It was a fun filled month here at Riley. In October we started our 2nd unit ARC so all scholars are reading information text and getting ready to start writing their books. Clubs are also in full swing and whether scholars are doing arts and crafts or learning about sports, we are learning and having fun at Riley even after school. Our book blast was in full force as scholars were able to get some free prizes and we are looking forward to our books being delivered to send home.
Of course our big fun event was our Red Ribbon Week. Our scholars got to demonstrate their promise to be drug free and we celebrated them with a fun spirit week. We ended the spirit week with students dressing up as book characters and were able to have some special guests read in our classes. Scholars and staff had a ton of fun as we celebrated being drug free.
Our final big event was celebrating Dia De Los Muertos. Scholars and families were able to join our Riley Ofrenda. It was a beautiful display of our loved ones and gave us a chance to talk about loss and remembering those who may be gone but not forgotten. October was an amazing month and we can’t wait to see what November will bring.
